Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program

What We Do

  • Obtain effective legal protection from New South Wales Local Courts through applications for Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (AVOs); and
  • Facilitate access through referral to a network of professional services that can assist with their other legal and social/welfare needs; and
  • Establish partnerships through the Service, in building the capacity of local services to respond effectively to domestic violence.

How We Can Help

We can help you before, during and after court proceedings:

  • Through face-to-face contact and mediation, we provide counsel, support and representation for clients accessing court services.

  • Our Support Workers act as a friend and confidant, available to help a client in the court process by listening to the client's concerns, explaining the court process and provide support where necessary.

  • We assist our clients with referrals and access to other services.

  • We provide assistance to clients deciding on the appropriate action and AVO requirement for their case.

  • We provide ongoing support throughout the court processes until final orders are issued.

  • We provide private consultation at our offices when requested.
